It wasn’t a very pleasant start to the week – I arrived at the shop on Monday morning to a river of sewage at the back of the shop. It was pretty disgusting and no-one else seemed to have done anything about it. I guess they thought it was my responsibility because it was coming up from a drain at the back of my shop, but this drain serves the whole of the court, incuding the flats above!
The first people I contacted was Southern Water who came out the same day, only to confirm that the main drain was clear and that it was a localised blockage, and said that I’d have to get a private company in. So I contacted the Property Managing Agent who called out a local company 24/7 Drainage Solutions. They arrived first thing the next morning – what a great service – they got straight to the problem and cleared the drain and tidied up the mess. They took photographs and used a camera. The culprit was baby wipes and I hasten to add not from us! Furthermore, the engineer carried out a test, only to discover that my toilet doesn’t even connect to that drain!!
At least it has been sorted now and I don’t need to worry about it over the Christmas break. The joys of running a business eh? If you ever have drainage problems, I would highly recommend this company – it’s nice to give a shout out to a reliable business.
