It has been an overcast week, but we can’t complain. It didn’t stop us from getting out and about this holiday week.
Saturday night started with a party round a friends house – drinks and nibbles which resulted in a very late night – it was lots of fun but I am so out of practice and consequently felt very tired and lethargic all day on Sunday. Ian played golf in the morning and we had a lazy afternoon watching a film, but I did manage to cook a roast dinner.
On Monday we visited Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge so the boys had their car fix. It was very interesting and we were fortunate enough to see the infamous Mercedes 300 SLR which Sir Sterling Moss drove and won the Mille Miglia in 1955 at the age of 25. The car is about to leave for it’s final destination to Germany, so it was a last chance opportunity to see it here in the UK. It is valued at £100,000,000!! We were so close to Richmond Park that we took a drive there and stopped for a refreshment. I had heard about it, but had never been, so I wanted to see the deer and they didn’t disappoint!
On Tuesday we had a lovely day – we scooped up Ian’s parents and went to Kimbridge Barn in Romsey for lunch, which was delicious. Then we had a stroll around Mottisfont National Trust – beautiful grounds and worth the visit. Then we were very naughty and went back to Kimbridge Barn for tea and cake! I’d spotted the coffee and walnut cake earlier, and just couldn’t resist!
A day at home on Wednesday, and then Lyn and I drove to Bournemouth on Thursday to view the Caprice collection for NEXT summer! Once again it was difficult to choose, but I think we know what you like by now!
Friday was a long and tiring day – we took George and a friend to The British Motor Show at Farnborough. What a great location – a backdrop of the airfield. We were really surprised at how busy that airport was with small flights coming and going all day. There was so much to see including displays, bike and car stunts, the boys had a go on the Caterham 7 experience where they just got thrown around for 5 minutes, simulators – oh yes, and we took advantage of a test drive in an all electric Ford Mustang Mach-E. It was very strange to drive and would take some getting used to, but I must say it was a powerful beast!
On Monday I am back in Bournemouth to look at the Robell Summer collection for next year, so I’m not back in the shop until Tuesday.
It has been a full on week, mostly revolving around motor cars, but I have enjoyed myself – spending time together is good fun (most of the time!).
The deliveries weren’t too bad whilst I was away – just two boxes from Robell which I have collected and am working my way through, getting them onto the website and logging onto our stock system. Thank you Lyn and Annie for holding the fort – it is great to have people I trust looking after my other baby!
Sorry it was a long email today, I had so much to say! Sending you lots of love, good health and best wishes. Look out for each other and be kind.
