Hello everyone,
Well, what a week it’s been!
Overall, I’m pleased to say it’s been a good one. Monday started as a very slow burn, but by the end of the day it had turned into one of those wonderful days that reminds you why you love retail. Tuesday and Wednesday carried on in much the same vein with some lovely sales, before things quietened down a little on Thursday and Friday. Saturday picked up again, so all in all, I’ll happily take it!
The weather has certainly had us all talking. It has been gloriously sunny, but Thursday was just too hot, wasn’t it? I don’t know about you, but I struggled to sleep. Windows wide open, cold shower before bed… nothing seemed to do the trick! Thankfully we’re back to something a little cooler now… although knowing our British summer, thunderstorms are probably just around the corner!
The sunshine has certainly encouraged everyone to refresh their wardrobes. We’ve sold a real mixture this week – sale shoes, sale shorts, hats, handbags and T-shirts – but without doubt our biggest success has been cotton dresses. It seems everyone has been searching for something cool, comfortable and easy to wear, and we’ve been only too pleased to help.
One of my lovely regular ladies came in to spend the birthday voucher her son had given her. She was looking for a dress with sleeves to take on holiday to Jersey, and she looked absolutely fabulous in one of our lightweight crinkle cotton dresses. They’re such practical holiday pieces – simply wash, twist, pack and wear. No ironing required… music to my ears!
Talking of dresses… what do you think of this gorgeous style from FOIL? I absolutely love it. The clever drawstring waist creates such a flattering silhouette and gives that lovely hourglass shape. The red, white and blue print couldn’t be more appropriate at the moment either!
Like many of you, my husband and I have been enjoying watching the football. It’s made for some exciting evenings… although I have to admit, staying awake for the late matches has been another challenge this week!
Our footwear clearance continues to gather momentum too. It’s so satisfying seeing those stacks of shoe boxes gradually getting smaller, but there are still some amazing bargains waiting to be discovered. If you’ve been meaning to pop in, now really is a great time.
As we head into July, I’m hoping this positive momentum continues. Independent shops like ours rely so much on your continued support, and every purchase—large or small—really does make a difference. If you’re in Emsworth over the coming week, we’d love to see you.
