Hello everyone,
Well, I’m delighted to report that it’s been another better week!
Trade has continued to come in waves – one day busy, the next a little quieter – but thankfully even the quieter days have still been good. I’ll happily take that! Long may it continue.
The glorious weather has certainly helped. Emsworth has been full of visitors enjoying a stroll around the mill pond, browsing the independent shops and, of course, stopping for a leisurely lunch. It’s one of the many reasons I love our little town so much.
Summer dressing has definitely been the order of the day, with lots of dresses finding new homes again this week, along with plenty of sandals. This week’s featured Caprice sandal has been particularly popular. I just love the soft neutral colour, the comfortable block heel and the practical styling. It’s one of those shoes that will go with almost everything in your wardrobe and will happily take you from daytime shopping to an evening meal.
Thursday was a little different for Karen and me. Lyn very kindly held the fort while we made a last-minute trip to Bournemouth to preview next summer’s collections. And what an exciting day it was!
We selected another fabulous collection from Orientique, which has already proved to be such a success with so many of you this season. Alongside it, we’ve introduced a completely new brand for Karen George called Hatley – a lovely Canadian label offering beautiful designs at really attractive price points. I have a feeling you’re going to love it just as much as we do.
The timing couldn’t have been more remarkable because the very next day I received the sad news that Adini will sadly be ceasing to trade. Many of you have loved Adini over the years and so this Autumn/Winter will be our final collection from them.
Whilst it’s always sad to say goodbye to a brand that has served us so well, I genuinely believe this is an opportunity rather than a setback. Retail is always evolving and so are we. As our shop continues its transformation, we’ll be making room for exciting new collections that work beautifully together and create an even better shopping experience. In many ways, it feels like the perfect moment… out with the old and in with the new!
The Great Shop Reset continues and there is still plenty to clear before everything falls into place. To help with that, I’ll be adding even more items to our clearance over the coming week, including more footwear and, in time, some winter styles too. That means even more genuine bargains for you!
Our sale footwear has been flying out, but there are still lots of fabulous pairs waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re looking for something for a wedding, a special occasion or simply planning ahead, it’s well worth popping in for a browse.
So… all change at Karen George!
