I’m sorry to say it but yes, it is true – this has been our worst ever July since we opened nine years ago. We’ve been seeing trade drop almost every month but never as much as this – Emsworth has had days where it has just been so quiet. Once upon a time you could never get a parking space on the street but now, quite often, you can.
I can’t put my finger on it. My neighbour always says that Emsworth misses the banks but that was years ago – I have seen a radical difference just this year. We’ve seen a few businesses go and we are surrounded by charity shops and now a vape shop! Footfall overall has simply dropped off.
I am so lucky and so grateful to my regulars who are all keen to keep us going and I am doing my absolute best, so please do come in and check out our sale items or browse the sale page on the website. The kids are now off for their summer holidays so perhaps some holidaymakers and visitors will make us busier. We are keeping everything crossed.
A bit of a change around this week – I am working Monday and Wednesday and Karen is covering Tuesday and Friday and Lyn will be in Thursday and Saturday. All because on Tuesday it is time to see the Caprice footwear collection for next summer and on Thursday I am a lucky girl having been invited to Ladies Day at Goodwood Races!! I’ve been desperately waiting for an occasion to wear my black and white FOIL dress – I’ll share some images on social media if you’re interested!!
