What a difference a few weeks can make!
As many of you know, we’ve been having a major clear out of previous season stock, last pairs and discontinued lines, and I have to say it has been going incredibly well. I am absolutely thrilled to be seeing so much stock finding new homes.
When I talk about clearing “old stock”, I certainly don’t mean it as a criticism of the products themselves. Far from it! There are still some fabulous pieces and genuine bargains to be found. What it is allowing me to do, however, is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time – a complete reset.
Little by little, we’re creating more space, rethinking displays and reorganising the shop to make everything easier to browse and shop. It’s giving me the opportunity to be more strategic with future buying too, selecting collections and pieces that work beautifully together, helping you build more versatile wardrobes where outfits can be mixed, matched and worn in lots of different ways.
I’m genuinely excited about the changes ahead, although I suspect it may take me a little while to work through all the sale stock at this rate!
Many of you will remember that I used to have a shop in Chichester, and tucked away amongst the clearance stock are some truly beautiful occasion shoes. These aren’t necessarily everyday styles – many have elegant heels – but they are perfect for weddings, graduations, cruises, Mother of the Bride or Groom outfits and other special occasions. If you know someone who still enjoys wearing a heel, please do send them our way because there are some remarkable bargains to be had.
The recent hot weather has certainly encouraged summer dressing too. Our cotton dresses have been particularly popular this week, including plenty of sleeveless styles. Whilst many of us admit our upper arms may not be our favourite feature, when the temperatures soar, comfort tends to win! It’s been lovely to see customers embracing lighter, cooler styles and dressing for the weather.
Our new canvas handbags have also been a great success. In fact, I’ve already sold out of the smallest size, so I think a top-up order may be required very soon.
And then, right in the middle of all the sale chaos, a brand-new arrival landed from Caprice! This week’s featured image is this lovely neutral sandal with adjustable Velcro straps at both the ankle and toe – ideal for accommodating those feet that seem to expand in the heat. Comfortable, practical and easy to wear with almost everything in your summer wardrobe.
Looking ahead, the forecast suggests slightly cooler temperatures and perhaps some much-needed rain. Hopefully it won’t signal the end of the sunshine altogether. As I always say, sunny days and rain overnight would be absolutely perfect!
