What a difference a little sunshine makes!
Earlier this week we had those beautiful bright, dry days — the perfect combination for getting out and about — and the town suddenly felt so much busier. It was wonderful to see people strolling around Emsworth again and popping into the shop.
Our colourful windows have certainly been doing their job too! One lady told me she simply couldn’t walk past after spotting the display and just had to come in — which is exactly what we love to hear.
The shop is looking incredibly cheerful at the moment and it’s been so encouraging to see how much you’re all enjoying the new stock. The Orientique pieces in particular have been proving very popular. As this is a trial brand for us this season the numbers are quite limited, and already there are a few styles where we only have one size left. It’s lovely to see how much you’re loving the colours and natural fabrics.
Interestingly it’s been a bit of a mixed bag sales-wise — alongside the lightweight cottons and holiday pieces, we’ve also been selling cotton shirts, lightweight jumpers and even a few winter sale trousers ready to tuck away for next year!
I’m still gradually adding the new arrivals to the website, although this week I was rather busy in the shop (which is a lovely problem to have!) so progress has been a little slower than planned. It will all appear there soon, but if you’d like the best choice it’s definitely worth popping in to see us.
The good news is that the large van which had been parked directly outside the shop has been moved this week and replaced with a car instead — not perfect, but much better as at least we can be seen again! And our colourful windows definitely deserve to be noticed.
This fabulous outfit is one of my current favourites — vibrant culotte-style trousers paired with a bright top, perfect for holidays or sunny days when they finally arrive.
One other little piece of news — Karen George is delighted to be taking part in the V2 Radio “Bring Us Your Bra” Appeal. We are one of the official Bra Bank collection points for old, unwanted or unloved bras. These bras will either be reused and sent to populations who do not have access to good quality bras, or they are turned into vital funding for life-saving research with Against Breast Cancer, supporting cutting-edge research into secondary breast cancer.
So if you have any bras at home that are no longer needed, please do bring them in — we will be collecting until 27th March, so there is plenty of time.
Although I’m still a long way from being out of the woods, this week has definitely felt more positive and encouraging. Seeing the shop busy again and everyone enjoying the colour and newness has lifted my spirits enormously.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support — it really does mean everything.
