I don’t know why we are all complaining about the cold – it is November afterall!!  I remember very cold bonfire nights in the past, and this year, it has been relatively mild until now.
Wrapping up warm and a brisk walk on these beautiful crisp days is just lovely, especially when it’s followed up with a hot drink in the warm.  The snow was a bit of a shock on Thursday though, we don’t usually see any – it’s beautiful at first when it has just settled, but that’s where it ends!  And now we have storm Bert – bless him!  It is wild and windy out there, so take care.
This weather has caused trade to be very poor this week and I am getting anxious about the weeks ahead.  Not to mention the “Black Friday” deals we are surrounded by – they’ve already started!  Remember the old days when we used to look forward to the “Boxing Day” sales?  There’s no such thing anymore – sales are always on throughout the year.  Usually the sale rails are full of all the dross anyway, so Karen George does not take part in Black Friday.  We always have a reduced rail for items which are slow sellers or difficult fits, and often last pairs of footwear to move them on, but they are great, genuine bargains.
Instead, I am advocating “Colour Friday” turning Black Friday on it’s head, encouraging people to “Bring Joy and Shop Small”.  Our High Streets need independents to survive and support each other so that we can thrive together.  Please shop small if you can.  We know it’s a difficult time for everyone but just one small purchase could make all the difference.
So with “Colour Friday” in mind, how do you like this pretty necklace from
Miss Milly? – there is a matching bracelet too!
On Thursday evening between 6pm-9pm I have a stall at the Xmas Xtravaganza Shopping Night at The Old Thorns Hotel in Liphook.  I am hoping to make some sales and create more awareness that Karen George exists!  Maybe I’ll see you there!
Until next week, take care of each other and be kind.
