What an amazing week I’ve had… although sadly not entirely in terms of sales! Monday and Tuesday were actually very good, but then the mixture of sunshine, hailstorms and chilly weather seemed to stop people in their tracks for the rest of the week.
However, despite the unpredictable trade, I’ve come away from this week feeling genuinely excited and inspired.
Karen and I met with Emma from Cream who came to show us their new Spring collection and honestly, what a breath of fresh air she was! We absolutely loved the pieces she showed us and have selected a small capsule collection which we think you are going to adore. More importantly, she gave me so much brilliant advice and encouragement that I came away with my head buzzing with ideas and renewed motivation.
As many of you know, retail can be a constant challenge, but sometimes all it takes is one inspiring conversation to reignite your energy and determination — and that is exactly what happened.
So… the changes have already begun!
I have completely emptied one whole side of storage cupboards and launched a HUGE archive footwear clearance sale. We are talking at least 100 pairs of shoes already reduced — with more still to come! These are previous season styles and end-of-lines, all beautifully made quality footwear at absolutely unbelievable prices.
The boxes are stacked up so you can clearly browse sizes and styles, making it much easier to hunt for a bargain. Once they are gone, they are gone, and as sale goods they are non-returnable — but honestly, there are some incredible buys to be had.
This week’s featured shoe is a perfect example… previously £75 and now just £30!!
We are also removing some of the storage cupboards entirely and rearranging the clothing rails to make the shop feel more open, easier to browse and much better for displays. It’s all a work in progress but already starting to feel exciting and fresh — a little makeover is always much more fun, isn’t it?
Of course, alongside the clearance bargains, we still have plenty of gorgeous new season stock waiting for you too — summer dresses, lightweight trousers, cotton t-shirts and full-price footwear all ready for warmer days ahead.
One moment this week really made me laugh. A lovely customer was searching for a top to wear to her daughter’s graduation and fell in love with one of the Cream tops… unfortunately I didn’t have her size left in stock. Then I realised I happened to be wearing exactly the same top in her size! So yes… I actually took mine off for her to try on while I quickly popped on a sale top instead! We both stood there laughing — now that really is personal shopping service!
The forecast for next week looks much more promising, so fingers crossed we finally get some settled sunshine and lots more of you out and about in Emsworth.
We would absolutely love to see you — whether you’re bargain hunting, browsing the new collections or simply popping in for a chat.
With warm wishes,
Karen x
