It’s been a slightly different week for me as I took a little time out to enjoy a long weekend with family visiting from Scotland. We had such a lovely time together — plenty of fresh air, a bit of a chilly breeze at times, and of course a little overindulgence along the way! It was so nice to slow down and spend some proper time together.
A big thank you to Lyn and Karen who held the fort brilliantly while I was away — which means I’ve only had a couple of days in the shop myself this week!
The good news is the weather really started to feel more like Spring, and with the door open and sunshine drifting in, it has lifted everyone’s spirits. Trade has been steady, although still quieter than I’d like — so I do gently remind you how much your support means to a small independent like us.
There are definitely signs of the season changing though… crops and shorts have been popular this week, which is always a lovely turning point. I’ve added these Robell shorts to the website in this beautiful liberty blue (and they also come in a gorgeous light green which I’ll get online soon!).
I had one of those “you learn something new every day” moments this week too — a lady came in looking for a silk square… for her violin! Apparently wrapping it in silk helps protect it from temperature and humidity changes. I didn’t have quite what she needed, but she left very happy with one of our larger silk pieces from the sale. I love the variety of conversations this job brings!
We’ve also had the final delivery from Adini arrive — two very pretty dresses, some lovely loose floaty trousers in an aqua and white print, and a sweet cotton blouse. The shop is now absolutely full to the brim with beautiful pieces… I’ve just about managed to squeeze everything in!
It’s been so nice chatting with so many of you — including a lovely couple from Horndean telling me all about their holiday… which I initially thought was on bicycles, but turned out to be motorbikes! It sounded like such an adventure — definitely one for the dream list.
On a personal note, I wore one of my Dress Addict dresses this week — cool, comfortable and easy — and I’m pleased to say it did its job, as one lovely lady bought one after seeing it on!
So as we head into another week, I really do hope to see you. If you’re local, do pop in — there is so much more in store than I can fit on the website at the moment. And if you’re further afield, don’t forget you can browse online anytime, with click & collect or delivery options available.
Thank you, as always, for being part of it — it truly means a great deal.
See you soon,
Karen x
