It is absolutely fantastic having a “bricks and mortar” shop, and I know I speak for both Lyn and Annie, in saying that we love nothing more than the physical interaction with our customers, offering advice and help, making suggestions, assisting in trying on garments and footwear – alongside a good old natter, gossip and giggle! We offer a sympathetic ear and enjoy putting the world to rights!
Of course, we are thrilled to have a date to work towards on 12th April to open our door again – still mindful that this date is subject to change should the figures not continue heading in the right direction, but so far, it is looking promising.
This pandemic has taught me that it is important not to rely solely on the shop to generate income, and that we need to spread our wings and make our mark in the world of social media to enhance online sales. Of course, once we re-open, my wish is that the two will run along together and hopefully, make us busier than ever – wouldn’t that be fantastic?
So, the saying goes “every day is a school day” and that has certainly been true for me. I’m only a beginner but I have been learning how to prepare and edit videos to upload onto Instagram and Facebook so that I can showcase the new arrivals! They are not perfect but I am pleased with how they are coming along and I will make improvements along the way. It is very time consuming and the hours just fly past – but it is a great use of my time at home during lock down. (Housework will keep!)
My plan is to present each piece individually, in all available colours, and then we can start putting together suggestions for complete outfits to add to your Karen George spring/summer wardrobes! With a few basics, we will select items which are interchangeable, mixing and matching along the way! It’s going to be so much fun, and I hope, will give you ideas for which pieces look good together. Incidentally, the Adini collection arrived on Friday but I am still waiting for Robell and Caprice!! It’ll be great to add shoes to the outfit suggestions too.
In addition to this, I have also learnt how to set up a Facebook and Instagram shop where you can now view the products, and with one click it will take you direct to that product on the website. I feel out of my depth but somehow I’ve managed to get it up and running – I’m still a bit rusty but the more I do, the more confident I am getting.
So if you use social media, do have a look – any feedback is welcomed, and if you haven’t already seen, more items have been added to the website.
I’ve selected a photograph of one of the new Adini dresses this week, which I think is really pretty and it has side pockets!
Have a good week everyone, remember to remain safe and keep up the good work following the guidelines. Look out for each other and be kind.
As always, sending you lots of love, good health and best wishes.
The team at Karen George are still here for you – click and collect or delivery.
