Hello,
Well, I’m afraid I don’t have quite as much to report this week!
I had a very busy Monday, and thank heavens I did because things fell away rather dramatically after that.
Enter Storm Austen! šŸŒ§ļø
Understandably, everyone seemed to decide that staying at home was probably the best option, and Emsworth became a rather quiet place!
We have, however, sold a few showerproof hats… šŸ˜‚
So perhaps Storm Austen has at least helped the hat department!
Lyn covered for me on Tuesday because we had to have our garage door repaired at home, so while I was there I decided I might as well put the final coat of paint on the bathroom.
And I am very pleased to report that…
THE BATHROOM IS FINISHED! šŸŽ‰
I’m actually really happy with the result — which is just as well after all the “Hmmmm, I’m not sure about this colour” moments!
So, what’s next?
The bedroom, of course.
I do like a challenge, don’t I? šŸ˜‚
I was back in the shop on Wednesday and it was also my birthday — Trafalgar Day!
Oh dear… another year older. šŸ˜‚
Nothing too exciting, but I did get to see my in-laws and, of course, George and Isla in the evening, and I have been thoroughly spoiled as usual.
Ian’s cousin then came to stay on Thursday and Friday, so we’ve had a busy
house, lots of chatting and, inevitably, lots of eating naughty things.
We are still working our way through the cake!
It’s all peaceful again now, so I can finally catch up on The Traitors and, of course, Strictly! šŸ’ƒ
And talking of things I’ve been meaning to tell you…
You may have noticed that I haven’t been adding any new stock to the website recently.
There is actually a reason for this.
I’ve decided to pause the website.
To be completely honest, it generates very few sales, and quite a few of you have told me that you find it difficult to use and a little clunky. It also takes quite a lot of time to photograph everything, upload the images and write all the descriptions — and for very little return.
So, rather than continuing to spend hours keeping something going that isn’t really working for us, I’ve decided to simplify things.
I’m having the website altered so that we still have an online presence, with our contact details, address and some updated images showing the sort of things you’ll find in the shop.
But I’m not disappearing online!
I’ll continue to post new stock, outfits, windows and everything else that’s going on at Karen George on Instagram and Facebook, so do make sure you’re following us if you aren’t already.
And of course, I’m still very happy to post things out.
So if you see something on Instagram or Facebook that catches your eye, or hear me mention something you’d like more information about, just get in touch. I’m always happy to send photographs, measurements or talk you through anything you’re interested in.
Back in the shop, our slippers and socks are continuing to sell really well, and I’ve also taken orders for some different colours of the Frandsen real duck-down gilets.
These are £99 and have proved incredibly popular.
I currently have a couple of chocolate brown and beige ones left in the shop, and I’m considering doing another top-up.
So, if there’s a particular colour you’d love to see, let me know and I’ll see what I can do!
And that, I’m afraid, is about as exciting as this week’s news gets. šŸ˜‚
Sometimes weeks are like that — a little quieter, a bit more time at home, a birthday, some cake, a finished bathroom and a lot of waiting for the weather to behave itself!
Hopefully Storm Austen will blow itself out soon and we can all get back to normal.
For now, stay safe and dry in this rather wild weather.
Until next week…
Take care of each other and, above all, be kind.
Karen xx
